Well, let me tell ya, folks been jabberin’ about whether this here NFL thing is dyin’ out. I hear all sorts of things, you know? Some say it’s bigger than ever, others say it’s goin’ downhill faster than a greased pig on a muddy slope.
Now, I ain’t no fancy expert or nothin’, but I got eyes and ears. I see them fellas runnin’ around on the TV, smashin’ into each other like a bunch of angry bulls. And I hear folks talkin’ about it, at the store, at the diner, everywhere you go. It’s a big deal, that’s for sure. People love their football.

- They got their teams, you know? Like them Packers or them Steelers. Folks get real passionate about it, wearin’ them jerseys and yellin’ at the TV. It’s somethin’ else.
- And they make a whole lot of money, them football fellas. Billions, I heard. More money than you can shake a stick at. They pay them players a whole lot, too. Millions and millions of dollars. Enough to buy a whole town, I reckon.
But then you hear things, you know? Whispers and such. Folks sayin’ the games ain’t as excitin’ as they used to be. Too many rules, they say. Too many commercials. And them young folks, they ain’t watchin’ as much TV as us old timers. They got them fancy phones and them internets, always lookin’ at them screens.
I remember when everyone watched the game on Sunday. It was a family thing, you know? We’d all gather around the TV, eat snacks, and cheer for our team. Now, it seems like everyone’s doin’ their own thing. It ain’t the same, that’s for sure. Times are changin’, I guess.
But then again, I see them stadiums packed full of people. And them fellas on TV, they still seem to be doin’ alright. They got them fancy cars and them big houses. So maybe it ain’t dyin’ after all. Maybe it’s just changin’. Like everything else in this world.
Last year, I heard they had more folks watchin’ than ever before. Somethin’ about a singer lady, Taylor somethin’-or-other. Seems she brought in a whole bunch of new fans. So, who knows? Maybe this football thing will be around for a long time yet. It’s hard to say for sure.
They say the games made more money last year than baseball or somethin’ called the Premier League. That’s a lot of money, I tell ya. They was sayin’ on the news that almost all the most watched TV shows last year were football games. That’s somethin’, ain’t it?

I even heard that there was a little hiccup a few years back, durin’ that whole “co-ro-na-virus” thing. Money went down for a bit, but then it shot right back up. Like a weed after a good rain, I tell ya. Can’t keep a good thing down, I guess.
So, is the NFL dyin’? I don’t rightly know. It might be, it might not be. But one thing’s for sure: people are still talkin’ about it. And as long as they’re talkin’, it ain’t dead yet. That’s what I think, anyway. Just an old woman’s opinion, mind you.
Anyways, it seems to me that as long as folks keep watchin’, and as long as them fellas keep playin’ and makin’ all that money, the NFL will be just fine. It might look different in the future, but it’ll still be around. That’s my guess, for what it’s worth.
