Alright, so you wanna know who’s startin’ first in that there car racin’ thing today, the NASCAR, right? Well, it ain’t always the same fella, you know. These fellas, they go racin’ around in circles, tryin’ to be the fastest. Sometimes one fella’s quick, sometimes it’s another. It changes all the time, like the weather, ya know? One day it’s sunshine, the next it’s rainin’ cats and dogs.
I heard tell that sometimes that Shane fella, Shane van Gisbergen, he’s been up front. He got that pole position, meanin’ he starts first, at that Charlotte place. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? Then there’s this Ross Chastain fella. He done went and got himself in first place at Watkins Glen. That’s up in New York, I think. He musta been goin’ like a bat outta hell, that’s what I say.

And don’t forget about Michael McDowell. That boy seems to be real good at gettin’ up front. They say he got the pole at Talladega. That’s a fast track, lots of room to go zoomin’ around. He got that pole six times this season, they say. Six times! That’s more times than I go to the store in a month, I tell ya.
So, who is it today? That’s the real question, ain’t it? Well, it depends on where they’re racin’ at. They go all over the place, you know. One week they’re in one state, the next they’re in another. It’s hard to keep track of, like tryin’ to catch a chicken in the yard.
- Sometimes it’s that Martin Truex Jr. fella. I heard he got the pole at Martinsville. That’s a tough track, real short and tight. He’s a good driver, that one, been racin’ a long time.
- And then there’s that Alex Bowman. He’s been doin’ good too, in them playoff races. Playoffs, that’s when they really get serious, like when the preacher starts talkin’ ’bout fire and brimstone.
- And wouldn’t you know it, Martin Truex Jr. is at it again. They say he got the pole for his last race ever, down in Phoenix. That’s a real nice thing, goin’ out on top like that. He’s retirin’ you see, no more racin’ for him after this. Good for him, I say. Time to rest them bones.
So, see, it ain’t easy to say who’s on the pole for today’s race. You gotta know where they’re racin’ at first. It’s like askin’ who’s bringin’ the potato salad to the picnic, you gotta know which picnic, right? But these names I told ya, they’re the ones to watch. They’re fast, they’re good, and they like to be up front. Keep an eye on them, and you might just see ’em winnin’.
Anyways, that’s all I know about this racin’ stuff. It’s loud and fast, and them cars go in circles real quick. I prefer a good sit on the porch with some lemonade, myself. But some folks like watchin’ them cars, and that’s alright too. To each their own, I say.
So, next time you wanna know who’s startin’ first, remember what I told ya. It ain’t always the same fella, and you gotta know where they’re racin’. And if you still don’t know, well, just turn on the TV and watch. They’ll tell ya soon enough, those announcers. They talk a lot, those fellas.
