Alright, so you wanna know how many folks in this whole wide world ain’t got a baseball glove? Well, that’s a tough one, like countin’ all the stars in the sky. But let’s chew on it a bit, shall we?
First off, you gotta think about them baseball gloves. They ain’t just any old gloves, you know? Them fancy leather ones, or sometimes they’re made of that… whatchamacallit… PVC stuff. They’re special for catchin’ them balls. Now, not everyone plays baseball, that’s for sure. Shoot, back in the old days, nobody used gloves! Can you imagine? Catchin’ that hard ball with your bare hands! Ouch!

Then, they started makin’ them gloves, little by little. First, just some plain ol’ things, nothin’ fancy. But then, they got smart, added that pocket thingy in the middle, made it easier to catch. Some folks didn’t like it at first, said it wasn’t real baseball. But hey, things change, right?
- Now you got all sorts of gloves: one for them infield fellas, one for the first base guy, one for the catcher, the pitcher, and them outfielders. Everyone’s got their own special glove.
- But even with all them gloves, some folks still don’t use ’em! There’s been some hitters, even just a few years back, who went up to bat without nothin’ on their hands! Said they liked the feel of the bat better that way. Crazy, I tell ya!
So, think about it. You got the whole world, right? Lots and lots of people. And baseball, well, it’s big in some places, but not everywhere. Lots of countries probably never even heard of baseball, let alone own a glove. Then you got places where it’s popular, but not everyone plays. Maybe they just watch it on TV. Or maybe they can’t afford a glove, those things ain’t cheap, you know.
And get this, sometimes you gotta play without a glove, even if you got one! Maybe you lost it, or it broke, or maybe… well, who knows! Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do to get that fella out. That’s what I heard at least.
So, how many people don’t have a glove? I reckon it’s a whole heck of a lot! If you think about all the folks in countries where they don’t play baseball, that’s billions right there. Then you add in all the folks who just don’t care about baseball, or can’t afford a glove, and well, it’s probably safe to say that most of the world doesn’t own a baseball glove. Maybe only a small bit of the population has a glove. It’s like tryin’ to count how many grains of sand there are on the beach, you just can’t do it!
Think of it like this: there’s a lot of poor folks in the world, and they’re more worried about gettin’ food on the table than buyin’ a baseball glove. And in some countries, kids are playin’ soccer or cricket or somethin’ else, not baseball. So, yeah, lots and lots of people without gloves. More than you can shake a stick at, that’s for sure.

But you know, it don’t really matter if you got a glove or not. What matters is gettin’ outside, havin’ some fun, and maybe throwin’ a ball around, even if it’s just with your bare hands! Just be careful not to break a finger!
