Well, let me tell ya, this whole F1 trophy thing, it’s a bit of a mess, you know? It ain’t as simple as winnin’ and takin’ home the prize. It’s all about them contracts them fellas sign.
Some drivers, the lucky ones, they get to keep the real deal, the shiny, heavy trophies. Others, well, they just get a copy, a fake one. Imagine that! You risk your neck out there, racin’ at speeds I can’t even fathom, and you don’t even get to keep the trophy! It’s like bakin’ a cake and only gettin’ to smell it, not eat it.
- Some get the real trophies.
- Some only get copies.
- It all depends on what their contract says.
Now, they get all sorts of trophies, you know? Big ones, small ones, some official lookin’ ones from the race organizers, and some that are just copies. And they get medals too! Imagine that, a medal and a trophy! Seems like a lot of fuss for drivin’ in circles, but hey, that’s just my old-fashioned thinkin’.
They say the teams, the fellas who own the cars and pay the drivers, they often want to keep the real trophies. They put ’em up in their fancy headquarters for everyone to see. Guess it’s good for business, showin’ off how many races they’ve won. But I still think it ain’t right. The driver’s the one who did the drivin’, he should get to keep the prize.
I heard one fella, Hamilton, I think his name was, he’s got so many trophies he had to rent a whole storage space! Can you believe that? A whole storage place just for trophies! He said he might as well buy the whole company. And you know what? He don’t even display them! Says he don’t drive for trophies. Well, maybe not, but I bet he’d still like to keep ’em!
And then there’s them special trophies, like the one they give out at the British Grand Prix. That one, they don’t get to keep at all. It goes back to some fancy club, the Royal Automobile Club, they call it. Seems a shame, winnin’ somethin’ and then havin’ to give it right back. Like catchin’ a big fish and then throwin’ it back in the water.

Now, about the cars themselves? Well, that’s another story. You can’t just keep the car, see. They cost a fortune, I heard. But sometimes, if a driver’s real lucky, or real good, the team might give him one of his old cars. Or he can buy one, if he’s got enough money, which I reckon most of ’em do. One fella, Alonso, he even built a museum for his cars and trophies. Imagine that, a whole museum! Must be somethin’ to see.
So, to answer your question, do F1 drivers keep the trophies? Well, it depends. It’s a complicated mess of contracts and team rules and who knows what else. Some do, some don’t. But one thing’s for sure, them drivers work hard and they deserve to keep somethin’ to show for it. Whether it’s a real trophy or a fake one, a medal or an old car, they earned it.
It’s like farmin’, you know? You work all year, plantin’ and waterin’ and harvestin’, and you get to keep what you grow. Should be the same for them drivers, I reckon. They plant their feet on the gas pedal, water the track with their sweat, and harvest a win. They should get to keep the fruits of their labor, trophies and all.
So next time you see them fellas racin’ on TV, remember it ain’t just about the speed and the glamour. It’s about hard work and dedication, and about who gets to keep the shiny things at the end of the day. And from what I gather, it ain’t always fair, but that’s life, ain’t it?
