I reckon that means it changes how many games they play. Except that very last one, the “NBA Cup Final,” I think they call it.
They also got somethin’ called quarterfinals and semifinals. I don’t rightly know what those are, but they said those count too. Sounds complicated to me. It just sounds like a whole lot of runnin’ around, if you ask me.
They say all 17 teams, whatever that means, they play at least 19 games. Now that’s a lot less than 82. And 14 of those are regular season games, and then there’s 3 more for some kinda tournament. Now, they say those tournament games don’t count toward the regular season, but it still sounds like a lot of games to me. It’s all confusing, like a tangled ball of yarn.
So, why 82 games? Well, someone said it’s been that way since, when was it, 1967? Seems like a long time ago. I reckon they added some new teams, and that’s why they gotta play so many games. Makes sense, I suppose. More teams, more games. More runnin’ around for them young fellas. More money for them, I reckon.
Back in my day, we didn’t have all these games. We worked hard, we did. But these young folks today, they sure do love their basketball. I don’t understand it, but they sure are passionate about it.
