Alright, so the other day I got caught up in this whole fantasy football draft thing. Never done it before, and let me tell you, it’s a whole ordeal. I thought, “Hey, how long could this possibly take?” Turns out, it’s not just a quick pick-and-choose thing.
So, first off, I jumped into this league with a bunch of friends – 12 teams in total. We decided to do it online, which I figured would be easier. I logged into the platform, and there was this timer staring back at me for each pick. They gave us like 90 seconds, which, in the heat of the moment, feels like both an eternity and no time at all. I mean some guys took so long to pick their players.

We started the draft, and for the first few rounds, it was kind of exciting. I was frantically searching up players, trying to figure out who’s good, who’s injured, who’s a sleeper pick – it’s a lot to take in! I was staring at the computer, and I was constantly thinking. Time was ticking!
- Round 1: Managed to snag a decent running back.
- Round 2: Got a top-tier wide receiver. Feeling good.
- Round 3: Panic started to set in. Everyone was grabbing quarterbacks, and I had no idea who to pick!
As we got deeper into the draft, like around round 8 or 9, it started to drag. We were all just sitting there, staring at our screens, waiting for our turn. I noticed some people were multitasking – watching other stuff, playing games, making food. I was just trying to stay focused, but man, it was tough.
There were 16 rounds in total. By the time we hit round 12, I was just picking players based on names I recognized. Strategy? What strategy? It was all a blur. It felt like we were making those tough calls forever, and you could see everyone getting a bit restless. Someone even suggested a break, but we powered through.
Finally, after what felt like forever, we wrapped it up. I checked the clock – nearly two hours had passed! Two whole hours of picking players, negotiating trades (yeah, that happened too), and basically living and breathing fantasy football. The whole thing took way longer than I expected. I guess those 90 seconds per pick really add up when you’ve got a bunch of teams and a ton of rounds.
So yeah, that’s my story of how I spent an entire evening in a fantasy football draft. Would I do it again? Probably. Was it a bit much? Definitely. I never thought I’d spend two hours of my life picking virtual football players, but hey, there’s a first time for everything!
