You know, folks always askin’ about them NFL games. Big deal, I tell ya. But the other day, I got to thinkin’ about them fellas runnin’ around with them big cameras. How much do them NFL cameraman make? Figured I’d do some snoopin’ and see what all the fuss is about. Them boys are runnin’ all over that field, rain or shine. They gotta be makin’ some good money, right?
Well, I done did some lookin’ around. It ain’t easy findin’ a straight answer, let me tell ya. Some folks say one thing, others say somethin’ else. But from what I can gather, them NFL camera operators ain’t doin’ too bad. And then they show the game on TV or that internet thing, all over.

I seen somethin’ sayin’ them cameramen, workin’ for the NFL, they can make anywheres from $42,000 to $75,000 a year. That’s a whole heap of money! Imagine that, $75,000! Back in my day, you’d be livin’ like a king with that kind of money. They always capture many events, not just football.
Now, I reckon it depends on who they workin’ for, too. You got your big shots like ESPN, they probably payin’ more. I seen somethin’ about ESPN payin’ their camera folks around $90,000. Heard someone say $90,182 even. Lord have mercy, that’s more than I made in ten years, maybe even more. And they say it can go from $84,844 to $95,165. Big range, ain’t it?
- Some folks say $42,000 a year.
- Some say up to $75,000 a year.
- ESPN might pay around $90,000.
- One place said average is $66,002 a year for NFL Films.
Then there’s this other thing I found, sayin’ the average is like $66,002 a year for workin’ for NFL Films. That’s like $31.73 an hour, $1,269 a week, or $5,500 a month. Still a good chunk of change, if you ask me. One website even said $23.68 an hour is average. Still ain’t bad.
It ain’t easy work, though. They got them big cameras, gotta lug ’em around. Gotta be quick on your feet, followin’ them players all over the field. And they workin’ no matter what the weather’s like. I seen ’em out there in the snow, rain, heat, everything.
And I guess it also depends on how much experience they got. A fella just startin’ out probably ain’t makin’ as much as someone who’s been doin’ it for years. Some websites say the average for NBA cameraman is $66,192 and for ESPN $74,542, so the number for NFL $93,000 is believable. I tell ya, that’s just how it goes. You gotta pay your dues, work your way up.

So, how much do them NFL cameraman make? Well, it seems like they makin’ a pretty good livin’. Not a bad way to make a buck, if you can handle all that runnin’ around. And I guess, if you are an NFL photographer, you might have a similar salary. I don’t know about that for sure.
Anyways, that’s what I found out about them camera fellas. They doin’ alright for themselves. Maybe next time I watch a game, I’ll pay a little more attention to ’em. They sure do earn their keep.
I guess it’s important work, gettin’ all them games on TV for folks to watch. People love them some football. Me, I’d rather be sittin’ on my porch, but hey, to each their own, right?
But it sure is interestin’ to learn about these things. You never know what you might find out when you start lookin’ into somethin’. And who would have thought them camera guys were makin’ so much money? I’ll tell you, there’s more to them football games than just the players on the field.
It’s a whole operation, ain’t it? You got your players, your coaches, your referees, and your cameramen, all workin’ together to put on a show. And they all gettin’ paid for it, too. It looks like a good job. But I reckon it ain’t all fun and games. It’s hard work, but they make it look easy.
