Alright, let’s talk about some basketball fellas, the ones they call Jehovah’s Witnesses. You know, the kinda folks who go door-to-door talkin’ ’bout the Bible? Yeah, them. Turns out, some of them boys who dribble and shoot hoops are part of that too. It’s kinda surprisin’, ain’t it?
So, I heard tell of a fella named Danny Granger. He was a real good player, an “All-Star” they say. Folks were whisperin’ ’bout him and some comedian lady, but that ain’t none of my business. What I do know is, this Danny, he’s one of them Jehovah’s Witnesses. Guess he found somethin’ more important than basketball, like his family and his, well, his faith, I reckon.

Then there’s this Darren Collison fella. He played for a good long while, from ’09 to ’19. Bounced around a bit, played for Indiana, Sacramento, Dallas, New Orleans… You name it, he probably played there. He’s a point guard, the one who brings the ball up the court, real quick-like. And wouldn’t you know it, he’s a Jehovah’s Witness too.
And let’s not forget about AC Green. That fella, I hear, was a real iron man of basketball. Played a whole heap of games without missin’ a single one. Tough as nails, they say. And guess what? He’s also one of them Jehovah’s Witnesses. Seems like these Witness fellas, they got some grit in ’em.
Oh, and there’s another one, Dewayne Dedmon. He’s been playin’ in the NBA too. Big fella, does a lot of the grunt work under the basket. Reboundin’ and blockin’ shots, that kinda thing. He’s also part of the Jehovah’s Witness faith. See, it’s more common than you’d think.

Now, I ain’t sure how many of these fellas are out there playin’ ball. It ain’t like they wear a sign or nothin’. But I heard tell of another one, Detlef Schrempf. He played for Seattle a while back, and they said he was real good, won some kinda award. Folks think he might be one of them Witnesses too, but it ain’t set in stone.
You know, it’s kinda interestin’, ain’t it? These fellas, they runnin’ up and down the court, millions of folks watchin’ ’em, and they got this whole other thing goin’ on, this faith thing. It makes you wonder, what’s really important to ’em? Is it the fame? The money? Or is it somethin’ more, somethin’ they believe in deep down?

I ain’t here to judge, mind you. Everyone’s gotta believe in somethin’, I reckon. Whether it’s basketball or the Bible, or maybe even both. These fellas, they found a way to balance it all, the hoops and the hallelujahs. And that’s somethin’ to admire, I guess. It ain’t easy, livin’ in the spotlight and stayin’ true to what you believe.
So next time you watch a game, and you see one of them fellas playin’ hard, remember there might be more to him than just basketball. He might be readin’ the Bible when he ain’t shootin’ free throws. He might be talkin’ to folks about his faith when he ain’t doin’ interviews. It’s a whole different world, and it’s happenin’ right there on the court, even if you can’t see it.
And that’s the story of them basketball fellas who are Jehovah’s Witnesses. They play hard, they believe strong, and they ain’t afraid to let folks know it. Good for them, I say. Good for them.
So, what have we learned today? Well, we learned that some NBA players are Jehovah’s Witnesses. We learned that Danny Granger, Darren Collison, AC Green, and Dewayne Dedmon are some of them. And we learned that there might be others, like Detlef Schrempf, but we ain’t quite sure. It just goes to show you, there’s more to people than meets the eye. Even if they’re tall and can dribble a basketball.
