So, the other day I got into this whole thing about which F1 driver had the best season ever, you know, win-percentage-wise. I mean, we all talk about total wins, but what about dominating a whole season? That’s a different beast. So, I decided to figure it out myself.
Digging Through the Data
First, I needed the wins data, I mean, ALL of them. every season, every driver, every number of races. you can imagine. so I searched every season’s data on some website.

Once I had all the season data dumped into my trusty spreadsheet, it was time to get down to business. I made a new column for win percentage. Simple formula, really:
- (Number of Wins / Total Number of Races) 100 = Win Percentage
I filled that formula down for every single season, and boom, there were the percentages, staring me in the face.
Sorting and BAM!
Then came the fun part. I sorted the whole shebang by that win percentage column, highest to lowest. And there it was, clear as day. The highest win percentage in a single F1 season.
It’s a fun little project, and it definitely gave me a new appreciation for those drivers who just crushed it in a particular year. It’s one thing to win a lot, it’s another to win most of the time!
