Okay, so I got curious about this whole NASCAR driver weight loss thing. I mean, you see these guys driving around in circles, and you don’t really think of it as being super physical, right? But then I heard they can lose a bunch of weight during a race, and I was like, “No way, I gotta check this out.”
So, I started by doing a little digging online. Nothing fancy, just some basic searches. What I found pretty quickly was that, yeah, these drivers are shedding some serious pounds during a race. The numbers I saw were like 5 to 10 pounds in just a few hours! I was mind-blown.

My Little Experiment
I decided to see what it might be like, in my own little way. So, you can check the setps below:
- First things,I started researching the temperature of the NASCAR.
- Then,I found some exercise that can be done in a small space.
- I turned up the heater in my spare room, and I cranked up the temp to see the body temperature of the racers.
- I hopped on for the same time as the race.
- And to make it even rougher, I only took small sips of water now and then, just like I read the drivers do.
I’m not gonna lie, it was a little rough to me. I was sweating like crazy, and after just an hour, I was already feeling pretty drained. I kept at it for a couple more hours, just to get a feel for the endurance part of it.
The Result
By the end, I was completely wiped. I stepped on the scale, and guess what? I had dropped a couple of pounds! I know, I know, it’s not the same as being in a real race car, with all the G-forces and the mental stress. But still, it gave me a tiny taste of what these drivers go through, I really got the body tempertature during a race!
It definitely made me appreciate how tough these NASCAR guys are. It’s not just about sitting and turning a wheel. They’re battling the heat, the dehydration, and the physical strain of those G-forces, all while staying laser-focused on the race. I have much more respect for those drivers and what they go through, seriously.
