Well, I’ll be darned. Heard some talk down at the general store, folks sayin’ somethin’ about that there Race Hub show, the one with all them fast cars.
Seems like it’s goin’ off the air. Can you believe it?
Folks been watchin’ that thing for donkey’s years, ever since… well, I can’t rightly remember when it started, but it’s been a good long while. My grandson, he’s a big fan. Always sittin’ in front of the TV, makin’ engine noises and whatnot. He’s gonna be real upset, I reckon.
- They say Fox, that’s the TV folks, they up and decided to cancel it.
- Just like that, poof! Gone.
- Heard tell the last show’s gonna be on Tuesday, June 11th. Gonna be a special long one, ninety minutes they say.
Now, I ain’t no expert on these racin’ things. Don’t know a carburetor from a cow patty, to be honest. But even I know that Race Hub show was a big deal. Folks would gather ‘round and watch it, talkin’ ‘bout who was gonna win and all that. It was somethin’ to do, you know? Somethin’ to look forward to.
Heard tell they had all sorts of folks on that show. Racers, announcers, all them fancy types. They’d talk and talk, and show clips of the races. Sometimes it was excitin’, sometimes it was a bit slow, but it was always there. Like a dependable old mule, always ready to work.
But nothin’ lasts forever, I guess. Things change, just like the seasons. One day you’re watchin’ cars go round and round, the next day you’re watchin’ somethin’ else. That’s just the way it is.
Now, they’re sayin’ somethin’ about new shows comin’ on. New channels and such. TNT, they call it. Sounds like a firecracker, doesn’t it? Apparently, they’re gonna have a show with that Shannon Spake woman. She was on Race Hub, I think. Nice lady, always smiling. They’re callin’ the new show “NASCAR Inside the Playoffs”. Don’t rightly know what that means, but I reckon it’ll be about racin’.
So, I guess it ain’t all bad news. Maybe this new show will be just as good, maybe even better. We’ll just have to wait and see. But it’s still a shame to see Race Hub go. It was like a friend, you know? Always there, day in and day out. Gonna miss that familiar voice and them shiny cars.
But like I said, things change. We just gotta roll with the punches, like an old tire down a bumpy road. And who knows, maybe someday they’ll bring Race Hub back. Stranger things have happened, I tell ya. Stranger things have happened.
For now, we’ll just have to say goodbye and thanks for the memories. It was a good run, Race Hub. A real good run.
So, there you have it. That’s the news from down here. Race Hub’s gone, but racin’ ain’t. They’ll keep on drivin’ them cars, and we’ll keep on watchin’, one way or another. That’s just the way it is.
