- Tie-breakers: And don’t forget them tie-breakers. They can add some time, but usually not too much. Maybe another 10-15 minutes or so.
So, there ain’t no easy answer, see? If you’re just watchin’ a regular match, best two out of three sets, I’d say figure on it lastin’ somewhere between an hour and a half and two and a half hours. But it could be shorter, it could be longer. It’s like the weather, you never really know for sure.
I heard tell that on average, a set takes about 40 minutes. So, if it’s a quick two-set match, maybe an hour and 20 minutes. Three sets? Maybe two hours or more. But like I said, that’s just an average. You never really know ’til it’s over.
And sometimes, they even change the rules a bit, dependin’ on where they’re playin’. Sometimes they play a longer set if it gets tied up. I heard tell of folks playin’ to eight games or even ten games if they get to six all! That’s gonna make it longer, for sure.
