Alright, listen up, y’all! Gonna tell ya how to pick them boxing gloves, you know, the ones you use to punch stuff. Don’t want ya hurtin’ yourselves now, do ya?
First thing’s first, you gotta think about keepin’ them hands safe. Safety first, I always say! You need gloves with lots of that puffy stuff, padding they call it. Keeps your knuckles and wrists from gettin’ all banged up. Don’t want no broken bones, that ain’t no good for nobody.

- Lots of padding good!
- Little padding bad!
Now, these gloves, they come in different sizes and weights. It ain’t like buyin’ potatoes, where a potato is a potato, ya know? They got these “ounces” things. Sounds fancy, but it just means how heavy the gloves are. The smaller your hands, the smaller the ounces you need. Makes sense, right?
They told me, and I’m tellin’ you, the little ladies and folks with small hands, they like them 12-ounce gloves. Them are the small ones. For just punchin’ the bag and whatnot, most folks use 14-ounce ones. And for when you’re really goin’ at it with someone, spar they call it, you want them big 16-ounce gloves. Big and heavy, keeps everyone safe.
Don’t go buyin’ no gloves just ‘cause they look pretty. Pretty don’t protect nothin’. You gotta measure your hand, see how big around it is. And think about how much you weigh too, believe it or not. Big fella needs bigger gloves. That’s just common sense, ain’t it?
I heard someone sayin’ somethin’ about experienced boxers and beginner boxers. Well, I say it don’t matter if you been boxin’ since you was a kid or just started yesterday. Safety is safety, and everyone needs good gloves. So don’t be cheap, get somethin’ that’ll keep you from hurtin’ yourself. You ain’t got but one set of hands, treat ’em right.
So, let’s recap, shall we? Lots of padding – that’s the puffy stuff. Right size for your hand, and right weight for what you’re doin’. 12 ounces for small hands, 14 for everyday punchin’, and 16 for when you’re really goin’ at it. And don’t forget to measure your hand and think about how big you are. It ain’t rocket science, y’all.

They got these charts and stuff, talking about sizes. I ain’t got no chart here, but I reckon if you go to a store, they’ll help ya out. Just remember what I told ya, and you’ll be fine. Don’t let them fancy talkin’ folks confuse ya.
And another thing! Don’t you go sharin’ gloves with just anybody. Gloves get all sweaty and stinky, and who knows what kind of germs them other folks got. Get your own gloves, that’s what I say. Clean gloves, healthy hands!
I seen some gloves that got extra stuff for the wrists, keeps ‘em from bendin’ all wrong. That’s a good thing, I tell ya. Wrists are important, you don’t want to mess them up. So look for gloves with good wrist support, they call it.
And lastly, try the gloves on before you buy ‘em if you can. Make a fist, see how they feel. They shouldn’t be too tight or too loose. Just right, like Goldilocks and her porridge, you know? If they feel good and they got lots of padding, then you probably got yourself a good pair of gloves. Now go on and punch somethin’… but be careful!
Now you know how to pick them boxing gloves! Go on and get yourself a pair, you will be fine! Remember what I said, safety first!
