Alright, let’s talk about them wrestling belts, you know, the shiny things them fellas on TV fight for. Do they get to keep ’em? Well, it ain’t as simple as you think.
First off, them belts, some of ’em are real fancy, like, with diamonds and all. I heard tell one of them belts is worth a million dollars! Can you believe that? A million dollars for a belt! Heck, that’s more money than my whole family’s seen in a lifetime.
Now, from what I gather, it ain’t like in boxing. You see, in boxing, when a fella loses, he gives up the belt right then and there. The winner gets it, and that’s that. But wrestling, well, it’s a bit different, you know? It’s more like… show business.
- They got lots of belts, see? Not just one for each weight class like them boxers. They got all sorts of belts, for different things.
- And these fellas, they win ’em and lose ’em, win ’em and lose ’em, it’s like a merry-go-round.
So, do they get to keep the real, fancy belts? Probably not. I mean, think about it, if everyone kept the real deal, they’d be runnin’ out of ’em pretty quick, wouldn’t they? And them belts, they gotta be at the next show, you know, for the next winner.
But, and this is the thing, they might get to keep a copy. Yeah, a copy. Like, if a fella really wants a belt to hang on his wall, he can go get one made. There’s folks who make them belts, and they can make a copy for the wrestler, if he wants to pay for it, I reckon.
It’s kinda like, you know, when you go to the store and buy a fancy purse. You get the purse, but the store keeps makin’ more of ’em. It ain’t the *only* one, see?
I heard tell there’s different companies that make these belts for the wrestling folks – Millican, Top Rope, J-Mar… sound like fancy city names to me. Guess if you’re a wrestler and you want a belt to show off to your grandkids, you go to them and get one made. Just like orderin’ from a catalog, I imagine.

So, the real, super-expensive ones? Nah, they probably don’t get to keep them. They gotta give ’em back so the next fella can win it and show it off. It’s all part of the show, you know? Gotta keep the folks entertained.
But they might get a copy, a less fancy one, to remember their winnin’ days. Heck, if I was a wrestler, I’d want a whole room full of belts! Even if they was just copies, it’d still be somethin’ to brag about to the neighbors, wouldn’t it? “Look at all these belts I won!” I’d say. They’d be jealous, that’s for sure.
Anyway, that’s the way I see it. It’s all a bit of a show, a bit of make-believe, but them belts, they’re still somethin’ special. They mean you’re the best, at least for a little while. And that’s somethin’ to be proud of, whether you keep the real belt or not.
So next time you see them wrestlers on TV, fightin’ and grapplin’, remember, them belts might not be theirs to keep forever, but the win, the glory, that’s theirs, at least for a while. And that’s what really matters, I reckon.
And who knows, maybe one day they’ll make a belt outta somethin’ I understand, like, a belt made outta good ol’ horseshoes. Now that’d be a belt worth keepin’!
