Hey there, honey! You wanna know ’bout them NFL teams, huh? Which states ain’t got none? Well, lemme tell ya, it’s a head-scratcher, that’s for sure. Lots of places got ’em, but some, well, they just ain’t so lucky.
Now, I ain’t no expert on this here football, but I hear tell there’s a whole mess of teams, 32 of ’em, they say! Spread out all over this here country. Some states got a bunch, like that California, they got three! Can you believe it? Three whole teams!

But then you got other places, like, uh… Well, lemme think. There’s that big ol’ state, Virginia. Lots of folks there, nearly 8.7 million, they say. But no NFL team to call their own. Heard some talk ’bout that Washington team, maybe movin’ there. We’ll see, I reckon.
Then there’s them smaller states. Like, uh… Idaho. Don’t think they got a team. And Montana, nope, not there either. Wyoming? Nothin’.
North Dakota, South Dakota? Nope. Nebraska? No sir. Iowa? Uh-uh.
You got Arkansas, no team there. Mississippi? Nothin’. Kentucky, West Virginia? Nope, no teams in those parts.
Then there’s Alabama, they ain’t got one. And them faraway places, like Alaska and Hawaii. Too far, I guess. No teams there.

Little Delaware, no team there. And Connecticut, nothin’. Maine? Nope. Rhode Island? Nothin’ there either.
So, yeah, that’s a whole bunch of states without no NFL teams, you see?
Now, why is that, you ask? Well, I reckon it’s ’cause them teams gotta be where the people are, where they can fill them big stadiums. And some places, they just ain’t got enough folks, I suppose. Or maybe the folks there, they like other things. Like fishin’. Or quiltin’.
It ain’t always ’bout the size of the state, though. It’s ’bout the size of the, uh… the crowds, I guess you’d call ’em. The folks who wanna watch the game. And pay for them tickets!
I remember one time, my grandson, he was explainin’ it all to me. He said it’s ’bout the, uh… the market, he called it. Where the money is. Makes sense, I suppose.
Anyways, here’s a little list I cobbled together of them states without no NFL teams, just so you got it all straight:
- Idaho
- Montana
- Wyoming
- North Dakota
- South Dakota
- Nebraska
- Iowa
- Arkansas
- Mississippi
- Kentucky
- West Virginia
- Virginia
- Alabama
- Alaska
- Hawaii
- Delaware
- Connecticut
- Maine
- Rhode Island
There you have it. Nineteen states, all without no NFL team. Now, I ain’t sayin’ it’s a bad thing. Maybe they got other things they’re good at.
Like, I know in some of them states, they got some mighty fine college teams. And folks get all riled up ’bout them, just like they do ’bout the NFL.
So, there you go, honey. Hope that answers your question ’bout them NFL teams and which states ain’t got none. It’s a lot to keep track of, I know. But I reckon it’s all part of the fun.
Just remember, whether your state’s got a team or not, there’s always somethin’ to cheer for. Even if it’s just the local high school team down the road.

The important thing is to have fun. And maybe eat some good food while you’re watchin’. That’s what I always say. There are 28 states do not have NFL teams.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I hear my stories callin’. Time for this old gal to get some rest. You take care now, ya hear?
