That Don Johnson Jr., what a guy! He’s a big shot now, a football coach, you know. Heard he got a fancy job with some big team, Oregon something. They call ’em the Ducks. Quack, quack! He’s got all them followers, too. Thousands! I don’t even know that many people in my whole life.
My grandson, he’s crazy about football. He says this Don Johnson Jr. is gonna make those Oregon Ducks the best team ever. He’s always going on about recruiting and training. I don’t know what all that means, but it sounds important. He says to win, you gotta know what the other team’s gonna do. Like looking at their last three games, see if they’re any good, if they got any tricks up their sleeves.

And you gotta train those boys hard. Otherwise, they’ll just be sitting on the bench all the time, hurt. And if your best player is hurt, you ain’t gonna win. That’s what my grandson says. He says you gotta find some other fellas who can play, maybe not as good, but at least they ain’t always getting hurt. It’s all about winning, you see. Every game, they want that win.
This Don Johnson Jr. football coach, he must know all about that. You gotta be smart to be a coach. Gotta know how to talk to them players, make ’em listen. And not just with words, neither. My grandson says you gotta show ’em, too.
In my day, winning was important. But not important as all of this. The game is all different.
- You gotta know your players.
- You gotta know the other team.
- You gotta train, train, train.
- You gotta have a backup plan.
- If players are hurt, you can’t win.
This football stuff is serious business. Not like when I was a girl. We just played for fun. Now it’s all about being the best, getting those championships. I heard there was another coach, Don something, who won a whole bunch of games. Hundreds! He must have been something else. And this other fella, he coached in Dallas. They were no good, but he made them winners, won them championships. Then he went to Miami, and they won there, too.
It ain’t easy being a football coach. You gotta be tough, you gotta be smart, and you gotta know how to handle people. This Don Johnson Jr., he seems like he’s got what it takes. My grandson, he sure thinks so. He’s always watching those videos of him, throwing up that “O” thing. I don’t get it, but the kids love it.

It used to be, folks would just play. Not a care in the world, except maybe winning the next game, or getting to supper on time. But I reckon times change. There’s big money in it now. This Don Johnson Jr., he’s probably raking it in. Good for him, I say. He’s making something of himself.
Don Johnson Jr. football coach. That’s a name you hear a lot these days. At least in my house, with my grandson always talking about it. It’s all football, football, football with him. He could learn a thing or two from Don Johnson Jr., I reckon. Maybe one day he’ll be a coach, too. Who knows?
This whole football thing is a lot more complicated than it looks. You got all these rules, and strategies, and players getting hurt all the time. It’s a wonder anyone can keep up. But this Don Johnson Jr., he seems to know what he’s doing. He’s got those players working hard, and he’s got them winning. That’s all that matters, I guess. Winning.
My grandson, he’s always saying you gotta have a good coach to win. And he says Don Johnson Jr. is one of the best. So, I guess those Oregon Ducks are in good hands. They’ll probably be winning a lot of games. And my grandson will be happy. And that’s all that matters to me. That boy’s happiness.
I may not understand all this football stuff, but I know it’s important. And this Don Johnson Jr., he’s a big part of it. So, good for him. I hope he keeps winning. And I hope my grandson keeps smiling. That’s all an old lady like me can ask for. I’m getting too old to figure all this out, anyways.
