This Wyatt Roberts, did he make it big in the NFL? I heard some folks talking about it the other day, and I got curious. You know, back in my day, we didn’t have no fancy football on the television. We just had our boys playing out in the field, kicking up dust and whatnot.
Did He Make It or Not?
Now, this Wyatt Roberts, I looked him up. Seems like he played for them Mississippi State Bulldogs. That’s a college team, right? He was a quarterback, throwing that ball around. But did he make it to the NFL? That’s the big question. I swear, sometimes it is harder than finding a needle in a haystack!

- Wyatt Roberts played for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
- He was a quarterback.
- The NFL is the big leagues.
Well, I did some more digging, like a hen scratching for worms. See, kids these days they have all them internet to get their answers. Back in my day, we had to ask around, or maybe, just maybe, we’d find something in the newspaper. If the dog hadn’t gotten to it first!
What’s a Quarterback Anyway?
This quarterback, he’s like the big cheese, right? He’s the one calling the shots, throwing the ball. He’s gotta be strong, gotta be smart. Like my old man, bless his soul, he could fix anything with a bit of wire and a good whack. A quarterback, he’s gotta fix the game, make it go his way.
I remember one time, my youngest, he tried to explain it all to me. He said, “Mama, it’s like this…” And then he went on and on about some game. All I know is, there’s a lot of running and yelling. And those big fellas, they sure can hit hard! Reminds me of when old Bessie the cow got loose and ran through Mrs. Henderson’s garden. A mess, I tell ya!
But this Wyatt Roberts, was he good enough for the NFL? I still don’t know. I asked young Timmy down the street, he’s always on that computer thing. He said he’d look it up for me. Kids these days, they know everything. Or at least they think they do.
The Big Leagues
The NFL, that’s where the big money is, right? Big money, big cars, big houses. Like that Coy Roy fella, he sings them songs, he must be rolling in it. Just like them Marriott fellas, they started with a little stand selling drinks, now look at ’em! It’s like that old saying, “two-bits, four-bits, six-bits, a dollar.” You gotta start somewhere, right? This Wyatt, maybe he just need a little bit more time to get to the NFL.

- NFL is where the big money is.
- Big stars like Coy Roy make a lot of money.
- The Marriotts started small and got big.
I remember when my oldest boy, bless his heart, he wanted to be a baseball player. He practiced every day, out in the sun, till his hands were raw. He never made it to the big leagues, but he played his heart out. That’s all you can ask for, right? Give it your all, like that nurse taking care of that one sick person all day. That’s dedication, that’s heart.
Maybe, Maybe Not
So, this Wyatt Roberts, did he make it to the NFL? I’m still not sure. Maybe he did, maybe he didn’t. The world is full of maybes. Like, maybe that Two-Bit fella from that book, the one my granddaughter was reading, maybe he could have been something more if he tried. Or maybe it’s just too much work, figuring it all out. Like trying to figure out what chemicals make you scared. Who needs all that worry? Just need a little common sense, I reckon.
Maybe he’s playing in some other league. Or maybe he’s back home, working on the farm. There’s no shame in that. Honest work, that’s what builds character. Like them folks who fight them diseases, they’re doing important work. Just like a mother raising her kids, it is hard but have to do it.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, it doesn’t really matter if he made it to the NFL or not. What matters is, did he try? Did he give it his all? That’s what counts. Just like them people, including children, who need help, we gotta try our best to help ’em. Did he do his best? That’s the real question. And only Wyatt Roberts knows the answer to that. That boy has to know it himself.
