Okay, so, the other day I was playing NBA 2K24, and you know how sometimes you just want to get through the game quickly? Yeah, I was in one of those moods. I started a new MyCareer game, got through the first quarter, and then came the halftime show. Usually, I just let it play out, but this time I was like, “Nah, I need to skip this.”
So, I started pressing every button on my controller. I mashed the X button, the circle button, even the triggers, but no luck. The halftime show just kept going and going. I was getting pretty annoyed because it felt like such a waste of time, especially when I was eager to get back to playing.
Then I thought, “Maybe there’s a setting somewhere?” I paused the game and went through all the options. Audio settings, gameplay settings, controller settings you name it, I checked it. But there was nothing about skipping the halftime show. It was frustrating!
After a bit more searching around, I realized that I couldn’t do anything during the actual halftime show to skip it. I had to wait it out. It’s kind of a bummer because in previous versions of the game, or at least in other sports games, there’s usually a way to fast-forward through these parts.
Eventually, the halftime show ended, and I could finally get back to the game. I noticed some people online talking about a bug, especially if you are playing offline. They said something about changing the V-SYNC settings and setting the refresh rate to 60 Hz, I didn’t try this because I play online most of the time. Also, some guys mentioned that you need to equip a special dribble style like Kyrie Irving’s, but that didn’t seem related to skipping the halftime.
- Started a new MyCareer game.
- Played through the first quarter.
- Tried pressing all buttons during halftime to skip.
- Checked all game settings for a skip option.
- Realized there’s no way to skip during the show.
- Waited for the halftime show to end.
- Found online discussions about a bug and V-SYNC settings, didn’t try it because mostly playing online.
- Resumed the game after halftime.
It’s a bit ridiculous that there’s no simple way to skip it. I mean, it’s cool that they have all these details in the game, but sometimes you just want to play. Hopefully, they’ll add an option to skip it in a future update or something. For now, guess I’ll just have to deal with it.
