Okay, so I was messing around online the other day, and I got into this whole rabbit hole about how much money athletes make. It got me thinking, who makes more money, NBA or NFL players? I decided to dig in and get to the bottom of it.
First, I started looking at the average salaries. I found a bunch of articles, and it seemed like NBA players were pulling in more on average, like a good chunk more. But averages can be tricky, you know? They don’t always tell the whole story. There are some NFL quarterbacks out there making bank, seriously huge contracts.

- So, I went deeper and checked out the top earners in each league.
- Sure enough, the very top NFL guys were right up there with the NBA superstars, money-wise.
- But then I noticed something – there were way more NBA players in that top tier of salaries than NFL players.
Then, I started thinking about endorsements. Both NBA and NFL players get those, but it felt like the NBA guys were landing bigger deals, especially globally. Basketball is huge worldwide, so maybe that makes sense. I saw a few lists of the highest-paid athletes, and it was mostly NBA players at the top, with a few soccer players mixed in.
Next, I stumbled upon some stuff about league revenue. The NFL is a monster when it comes to revenue, way bigger than the NBA. So, you’d think the players would be getting a bigger piece of the pie, right? But here’s the thing, NFL rosters are massive compared to NBA teams. Way more players to pay, so the money gets spread out a lot thinner.
After all this digging around, I started to see a clearer picture. NBA players generally make more money than NFL players. The average salaries are higher, and there are more of them at the top end making crazy money. The smaller rosters and the global popularity of basketball definitely play a role.
But, the NFL is no slouch. It’s a money-making machine, and the top players, especially quarterbacks, can still make a fortune. It’s just that the money is distributed differently because of those huge rosters.
So, there you have it. That’s my little adventure into the world of sports money. It was a fun little project, and I definitely learned a lot along the way. What do you guys think? Did I miss anything? Let me know in the comments!
