Alright, listen up, y’all. You wanna watch them Vols play football, huh? It ain’t rocket science, but it ain’t always easy neither. Let me tell ya how to do it, the way I figure it out.

First off, you gotta know when they’re playin’. That’s the most important thing. You can’t just sit around waitin’ for the TV to magically show the game. You gotta look it up. Now, I ain’t got no fancy phone or computer, but my grandson showed me this thing called the “internet”. He says you can find the schedule there. Just type in “Tennessee Volunteers football schedule” and it should pop up. Or, you know, ask your neighbor. They might know.
Okay, so now you know when they’re playin’. Next thing is, where to watch it. That’s where it gets a little tricky. Back in my day, we just had the one TV, and if the game was on, it was on. Now, they got all these different channels and whatchamacallits. It’s a mess, I tell ya.
- Sometimes, the game is on regular TV. My grandson says it’s somethin’ called “ABC”. If you’re lucky, you can just turn on the TV and there it is. Easy peasy.
- But a lot of times, it’s on somethin’ called the “SEC Network”. That’s like a special channel just for college games in the South. You gotta pay extra for that one, I think. My son-in-law got it, so I go over to his place to watch sometimes. He yells a lot at the TV, but at least I get to see the game.
- Then there’s this “ESPN” thing. They show a lot of games too, especially the big ones. And they got somethin’ called “ESPN Plus” which is even more games. It’s all too much, if you ask me. But if you wanna watch all the games, you probably gotta get some of these channels. My grandson says you can get them with “Hulu” or somethin’. Sounds like a hula dance to me, but he says it’s on the computer.
Now, let’s say you wanna watch the game at the stadium, you know, in person. That’s a whole ‘nother story. First, you gotta get tickets. And let me tell ya, them tickets ain’t cheap. You gotta buy ‘em early, or you’ll be stuck watchin’ from the parking lot. They play at Neyland Stadium, that big place in Knoxville. It’s loud, and there are a lot of people. But it can be fun, I guess, if you like that sort of thing. My knees ain’t what they used to be, so I prefer watchin’ on TV. But if you go, wear orange! Everybody wears orange.
And one more thing, sometimes the games are on at weird times. Like, on a Thursday night, or a Saturday afternoon, or even on a dang Tuesday! Who plays football on a Tuesday? I don’t know. You just gotta check that schedule, like I said before. And sometimes, they play them “bowl games” after the regular season. Those are like special games, and they’re usually on ESPN or somethin’. My grandson explained it to me once, somethin’ about playoffs, but I didn’t really understand it. Too many rules. I just like to watch the game, eat some snacks, and maybe yell at the TV a little bit.
So, that’s about it. Find out when they’re playin’, figure out where to watch it, and if you’re goin’ to the stadium, get them tickets early. And remember, wear orange! It ain’t that hard, even for an old lady like me. Now go on, get yourself ready for some football! Go Vols!

Here’s a little summary, just in case you didn’t get it all:
- Check the Schedule: Look online or ask around to see when the games are.
- Find the Right Channel: ABC, SEC Network, ESPN, ESPN Plus…it’s a lot, I know.
- Get Tickets Early (If you’re going to the stadium): They sell out fast, especially for big games.
- Wear Orange!: Show your support for the team!
- Enjoy the Game: That’s what it’s all about, right?
And don’t forget, sometimes they play games against teams like Chattanooga Mocs and UTEP Miners. Don’t matter who they playin’, we always rootin’ for the Vols!
