You wanna know how to get a baseball scholarship? Well, it ain’t as easy as pie, let me tell ya. But it ain’t impossible neither. Lots of young’uns dream of playin’ ball and gettin’ that baseball scholarship to help pay for school. School costs a heap these days, more than a pig at the county fair!
First thing’s first, you gotta be good at baseball. Not just kinda good, but real good. Like, hit-the-ball-outta-the-park good. Practice, practice, practice! That’s what they all say. And they’re right. You gotta swing that bat every day, catch them fly balls, and run them bases like your life depends on it.
And you gotta be lucky too. Sometimes them college baseball coaches, they’re watchin’ ya. Other times, they ain’t. But you gotta play like they’re always watchin’, even when they’re not. Show ’em what you got!
Now, ’bout them baseball scholarships… They ain’t all the same. Some pay for everything, some just pay for a little. Depends on the school, depends on how good you are. You see them big fancy colleges on TV? They got lots of money to throw around, but they’re also lookin’ for the best of the best.
Don’t you worry none if you don’t get into one of them fancy schools though. There’s lots of other colleges out there, and they got baseball scholarships too. You just gotta find ’em.

- Gotta do good in school.
- No one wants a dummy on their team, even if he can hit a ball a mile long.
They say them scholarship winners, they got real good grades. Like, straight As and stuff. And they ain’t just sittin’ around twiddlin’ their thumbs when they ain’t playin’ ball. They’re studyin’ and learnin’ and doin’ all that school stuff. They say you gotta be a 3.5 or higher. That’s like, a lot higher than I ever got! But you young’uns are smart cookies. You can do it!
So, how do you find these baseball scholarships? Well, you gotta ask around. Ask your coach, ask your teachers, ask your momma and daddy. They might know somethin’. They might know somebody who knows somebody. That’s how it works sometimes.
And there’s this thing called the “internet” now. They say you can find anything on there. Even baseball scholarships! Just gotta type it in and see what pops up. Beats walkin’ around askin’ everyone, I reckon.
Your high school, they got people there who are supposed to help you with this kinda stuff. They call ’em “guidance” somethin’ or other. Go talk to them. That’s what they’re there for. They should know how to get a baseball scholarship.
And your momma and daddy, if they work, their job might know somethin’ too. Sometimes jobs help out with school. Ask ’em! Can’t hurt to ask, right?
Now, these baseball scholarships ain’t just for boys, ya know. Girls can play baseball too! And they can get scholarships too. Don’t let anyone tell you different.
It’s a tough road, gettin’ a baseball scholarship. Lots of kids want ’em. But if you work hard, and you’re good at baseball, and you keep your grades up, and you get a little lucky… well, you just might get one.
And if you do, that’s somethin’ to be proud of. That’s a big deal. That means you’re doin’ somethin’ right. That means you can get that college baseball education without your momma and daddy having to sell the farm to pay for it.
Another thing… those college baseball fellas want kids who ain’t afraid of hard work. They want kids who are tough, who don’t give up easy. So you gotta show ’em you’re that kinda kid.

- Show them you’re gonna work hard for it!
- Show them you ain’t gonna let them down!
