So I’ve been playing a lot of NBA 2K23 lately, mostly messing around with MyLeague and MyGM modes. I started a Spurs rebuild and quickly got bored with the default draft class. I wanted to spice things up, maybe add some legendary players or create some custom ones. So I went on a mission to figure out how to change the draft class.
First, I jumped into the game’s main menu and started poking around. I found the Features section and clicked on it. There I saw a bunch of options, but I was looking for something related to rosters. I kept digging until I found it – the Roster portion of the menu.

I went in there and started exploring the different options. I knew I could either use a user-created draft class or make my own. Since I’m kinda lazy, I decided to look for existing ones first. I browsed through a bunch of user-created draft classes, and there were some pretty cool ones. Some had classic players like Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, and Steve Nash from the 1996 draft class. That’s pretty wild to imagine playing with them in the modern NBA!
But then I thought, “Why not try making my own?” So I went back and started messing around with the player creation tools. I started with a basic template and started tweaking attributes, skills, and appearance. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but I slowly got the hang of it. I ended up making a few custom players, giving them some crazy stats and unique looks.
- Go to the Features section from the main menu.
- Find the Roster part of the menu.
- Decide whether to use an existing draft class or create a new one.
- If using an existing one, browse and select it.
- If creating a new one, use the player creation tools to customize your players.
After I was satisfied with my custom draft class, I saved it and went back to my Spurs rebuild in MyLeague mode. At the beginning of the season, the game asked me which draft class I wanted to use, and there it was – my custom draft class! I selected it, and boom, my custom players were now part of the league.
It’s been a blast playing with my created players and seeing how they fare against the rest of the NBA. I made one guy who’s basically a cheat code, he’s averaging like 50 points per game! It’s not very realistic, but hey, it’s my game, and I can do whatever I want, right?
So yeah, that’s how I figured out how to change the draft class in NBA 2K23. It took a bit of trial and error, but it was totally worth it. Now I can make each season unique and create some crazy scenarios. Maybe next time, I’ll create a draft class full of aliens or something. The possibilities are endless!
