Hey there, honey, let me tell you about what I saw on the TV today. It was one of them NASCAR races, you know, the cars going round and round real fast. But before they started zooming, they always sing that national anthem song. You know the one, makes you wanna put your hand over your heart and all that.
Who Sang the Anthem Today?
Well, today, I was watching and I seen this fella singing. Now, I ain’t no expert on singers, but he sure had a nice voice. He was a country singer, I reckon. Lots of them country folks sing at these races. It’s always a big to-do, you know?
Now, who was that man? They said his name, but you know my memory ain’t what it used to be. Let me try and think… It was Craig Morgan, that’s it! That name just come right to me. He’s got some songs I like, too, but I can’t recall their names right this minute.
Craig Morgan, a Good Ol’ Boy
This Craig Morgan fella, he ain’t just a singer. No sir. He was in the Army. Served our country, he did. Bless his heart. Makes you feel good to see someone like that singing the national anthem, don’t it?
They showed him on the TV, standing there with a bunch of other Army folks. They was called the… the 313th U.S. Army Band. Yep, that was it. They was all dressed up in their uniforms. Looked real sharp.

- He was in the Army.
- Sang the national anthem at the NASCAR race.
- 313th U.S. Army Band was there.
- It was a sight to see!
Singing at the NASCAR Race
So, Craig Morgan, he stood there, strong and proud, and he sang that song. And you know what? It gave me chills. It always does. Hearing that song, seeing them cars lined up, all them people cheering… it’s something else. Makes a body feel proud to be an American.
I don’t know much about them other singers they have at these NASCAR races. Sometimes they got ladies singing. Sometimes they got folks who play guitars. They’re all good, I suppose. But today, it was that Craig Morgan fella, and he done a fine job.

More About NASCAR and Singers
Now, this race, it was a big one. They call it the… the YellaWood 500. Don’t ask me what that means. Sounds like something you’d use to build a house, don’t it? But anyways, it’s one of them big NASCAR races. Lots of folks watch it. Millions, I bet.
And before every race, they sing that song. It’s a tradition, you see. Like having apple pie on the Fourth of July. It just wouldn’t be right without it. And having a country singer like Craig Morgan do it, well, that’s just the cherry on top.
There was another race I seen one time, that other lady, what’s her name? Sierra Ferrell, she sang there. She got a pretty voice too, but that Craig Morgan, he got a voice that just makes you stand up a little straighter. It was at the place called Nashville Superspeedway.
Why They Sing the National Anthem
You know why they sing that song before the race, don’t you? It’s to honor America. To show respect for our country and all the folks who fought for it. Like Craig Morgan did, when he was in the Army. It’s a good thing. A real good thing. Sometimes I see these young folks today, they don’t seem to appreciate it as much. But back in my day, we was always taught to respect our country and our flag.
Anyways, that’s all I got to say about that. Just wanted to tell you about that Craig Morgan fella singing the national anthem at the NASCAR race today. He done a good job. A real good job. Made this old heart swell with pride.

Oh, and there was also this gal, they called her Angelica Torres, I think she is an influencer or something, who they said was going to sing that song at another NASCAR race, one of them truck races at the Phoenix Raceway. I didn’t see that one, but I am sure she did good, too. These young people today, they are all so talented.
That’s all for now. Now, I see, the race done started, I gotta go watch them cars go round and round. Lord, I love me some NASCAR.
