Yo, listen up, you young’uns! Today, I’m gonna tell you about them basketball players, the ones in the NBA. They jump around, throwin’ that orange ball. But today, we ain’t talkin’ ’bout who jumps the highest or runs the fastest. We talkin’ ’bout who has the biggest hands in the NBA. Big hands, you know? Like shovels!
Now, I seen a lot of big hands in my time. My old man, bless his soul, he had hands like catchers’ mitts. Worked the fields all day, he did. But these NBA fellas, some of them got hands that make my old man’s look like a baby’s. So, who has the biggest hands in the NBA?

I heard tell of a fella named Boban. Sounds like a funny name, don’t it? Boban Marjanovic. They say he’s tall as a barn door. Seven foot four, I heard! Can you imagine? And his hands? Well, they say them hands is the biggest hands in the NBA. Biggest hands ever! They measure them things, you know. Like we measure a hog before slaughter. This Boban fella, his hands are ’bout 10 and three quarter inches long, and a whole foot wide! Twelve inches! Good lord, that’s bigger than my best fryin’ pan.
- Boban Marjanovic, that’s the one with the biggest mitts.
- They say his hands are 10.75 inches long.
- And 12 inches wide, them big ol’ paddles.
- He’s a big fella, 7 foot 4 inches tall, I reckon.
Now, you might be thinkin’, why’s it matter if a fella’s got big hands? Well, in that basketball game, big hands is a good thing. You can hold onto that ball like a dog on a bone. Makes it hard for the other fellas to snatch it away. And you can grab them rebounds, they call ’em, like grabbin’ apples off a tree. This Boban, with them biggest hands in the NBA, he must be a terror on the court.
There was another one, years back. O’Neal, they called him. Shaquille O’Neal. He was a big ‘un too. Not as tall as Boban, maybe, but still a mountain of a man. And his hands was big too. Over 10 inches long and almost 12 inches wide. Not quite as big as Boban’s, but still, them’s some serious paws. He could hold that ball in one hand like it was a grapefruit. He could dominate the court, just using his hands. He’s a good player. That O’Neal fella, he could really play. He used them big hands to grab every ball that come near him.
And then there’s this other fella, Wilt Chamberlain. They used to call him “The Big Dipper”. He played a long time ago. He got some big hands too, 9 and a half inches long and 11 and a half wide. Not the biggest hands in the NBA, but still big enough to make a difference.
So, why do they need big hands? Well, for one, it helps ’em hold onto that basketball. It’s about 29 and a half inches around, you know. That’s bigger than my head! With big hands, they can just palm it, like it’s nothin’. And they can grab them rebounds. That’s when the ball bounces off the backboard or the rim, and they jump up and catch it. With big hands, it’s easier to grab that ball out of the air. Big hands are good for defense, good for offense. It is very useful.
These NBA players hand size is different. Some big, some small. But that Boban fella, he’s got the biggest of ’em all. I reckon if he ever shook your hand, you’d feel like you were stuck in a bear trap!
Some other fellas got big hands too. But none of ’em as big as Boban. That’s what I heard, anyway. Maybe there’s some young fella out there, growin’ up now, with hands even bigger. Who knows? But for now, that Boban, he’s the king of the big hands in the NBA. It is interesting to know who has the biggest hands in the NBA.
So next time you watch them basketball players, and you see one of ’em with hands like shovels, you think of old Boban. And you remember what I told ya. Big hands might not make you a great basketball player, but they sure don’t hurt! And if you got the biggest hands in the NBA, well, that’s somethin’ special. You can control the ball better than others.
Now, I gotta go. My stories are makin’ me tired. But you young’uns, you keep your eyes on them basketball players. And you watch them hands. You might just learn somethin’.
