Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get back in shape, and I figured boxing might be a fun way to do it. I heard about this place called A Family Affair Boxing Gym, and it sounded pretty cool, so I decided to check it out.
First thing I did was try to find the place. Turns out it’s in Westminster, Colorado, at 3047B W 74th Ave. I drove over there, and let me tell you, it was a little tricky to spot at first. It’s actually tucked away in the back of a shopping center, but I found it in the end.
When I walked in, I noticed right away that it had a real family vibe. I mean, it’s in the name, right? I saw people of all ages working out, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I’d heard they also offer Mixed Martial Arts training there, but boxing is what I’m after at the moment.
I got in touch with them before going over and the folks there were super friendly. I found their contact number online as (720) 568-9934, and they were helpful on the phone, answering all my questions.
I signed up for a few sessions, and man, it was intense! But in a good way. The trainers there really know their stuff. They pushed me, but they also made sure I was using the right form so I didn’t hurt myself. I was sweating buckets by the end, but I felt amazing.
- First Session: I started with some basic stuff, like learning how to stand and throw a punch. It was tougher than I thought!
- Second Session: We moved on to some footwork drills and started using the heavy bag. My arms were burning, but it was a good pain.
- Third Session: We did some sparring with the trainer, which was a little intimidating at first, but it was actually really fun. I definitely got a good workout.
I’ve been going there a few times a week now, and I’m already starting to see some results. I feel stronger, and my stamina is getting better. Plus, it’s just a really positive and supportive environment.
There was one day, I brought my little cousin, he just graduated, and was looking for something to do. He joined me for a session, and I think he’s hooked now! We even saw a new family member working there, which made it all the more welcoming.
My Overall Impression
So yeah, A Family Affair Boxing Gym is definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a good workout and a friendly atmosphere. It’s a bit hidden, but once you find it, you’ll be glad you did. Just be prepared to sweat!
