So, I’ve always been a huge boxing fan, right? Watching those guys in the ring, the intensity, the skill, it’s just mesmerizing. I’ve been hitting the gym for years, sparring, working on my technique, the whole nine yards. Finally, I thought, “Why not take this to the next level?” Getting a pro boxing license seemed like the ultimate challenge, so I dove right in.
First, I had to find a local boxing commission. This was pretty straightforward, just a little bit of internet searching to find out who is the authority in my area. They are the ones who hand out the licenses, so getting on their radar was step one.

Next, I had to get in touch with a licensed manager or promoter. This took some networking. I started hitting up all the boxing gyms in my city, talking to trainers, other fighters, just getting my name out there. Eventually, I connected with this guy, a real veteran of the sport, and he agreed to take me on.
Then came the real work. I had to pass a thorough physical examination. This wasn’t just your average check-up. They checked everything, and I mean everything – eyesight, reflexes, heart, lungs, you name it. They even did some neurological tests. It was intense, but I was in top shape, so I passed with flying colors.
- Step 1: Contact local boxing commission
- Step 2: Find a licensed manager or promoter
- Step 3: Pass a rigorous physical examination
After that, there was a bunch of paperwork. I had to fill out application forms, provide proof of identity, and disclose any past medical issues. It was a real pain, but hey, it’s part of the process.
I also had to get some passport-sized photos taken. I’m not a big fan of getting my picture taken, but I managed to find a place that did it quickly and painlessly.
The next hurdle was a review of my amateur boxing record. Luckily, I had kept pretty good records of all my fights, wins, losses, the whole shebang. They seemed impressed with my experience, which was a relief.

Then came the waiting game. The commission had to review my application, check my background, and basically make sure I wasn’t some kind of criminal. It was a nerve-wracking few weeks.
Finally, The Approval
Finally, I got the call. My application had been approved! I was officially eligible to apply for a professional boxing license. It was a major moment, I swear my heart skipped a beat when I got the news. It felt like all those years of hard work were finally paying off.
I had to pay a licensing fee, which wasn’t cheap, but hey, it was worth it. And then, there it was, my very own professional boxing license. Holding it in my hands, it felt surreal.
It was a long and winding road, filled with challenges and a whole lot of paperwork, but I did it. I’m a licensed professional boxer. Now, the real training begins, and the journey to my first pro fight. Wish me luck!
