Alright, so, I got curious the other day about something pretty specific – I wanted to know how many NBA players are Jehovah’s Witnesses. It’s not something you hear about every day, right?
First, I started off with a quick search. You know, just typing “how many NBA players are Jehovah’s Witnesses” into the search bar. I figured I’d find a list or something, but the initial results weren’t as clear-cut as I’d hoped. There was no simple list.

Then I began to dig a little deeper. I started looking into some names that popped up in forums and some old articles. One name that kept coming up was Danny Granger. Apparently, he used to play for the Pacers, and he’s pretty well-known in the NBA circles.
So, I focused on Danny Granger to see if he was indeed a Jehovah’s Witness. I read through a few articles and found some interviews where he talked about his faith. Turns out, he is one! And the more I read, the more I found out about his career. He played for a solid 11 seasons in the NBA. That’s a long time! His stats are decent too, averaging 16.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. Not too shabby.
But, I didn’t stop there. I went back and combed through more player profiles, trying to cross-reference any mentions of their religious beliefs. It’s a bit like detective work, honestly. You’re piecing together bits of information from different places, hoping to get a clearer picture.
From what I gathered, it seems like there aren’t a ton of NBA players who are openly Jehovah’s Witnesses. Danny Granger is definitely one of the most prominent examples. But it looks like being a Jehovah’s Witness isn’t super common among NBA players.
But, you know, it’s kind of cool to see how different people’s beliefs and careers intersect. It makes you think about the variety of backgrounds and experiences that these athletes have.

Anyway, that’s the gist of what I found out. It was a fun little research project. It just goes to show that you can find interesting stuff when you start digging into random questions.
