Well now, you mighta heard about a fella by the name of Scott Henson, better known in the world of wrestling as “Big Cat.” That was a name folks in the Pacific Northwest knew real well. Sad thing is, Big Cat passed away just a short time ago, on June 16, 2024, and it left a big hole in the wrestling world, especially for folks who knew him from the Canadian independent scene.
Now, as to what exactly caused his death, well, that’s somethin’ nobody’s been too clear about. They didn’t say much about the cause, but what they did say was that it was sudden and unexpected. His family even asked folks to donate to animal charities, like the SPCA or places that rescue cats, which was somethin’ Scott would’ve loved, ‘cause he was a big cat lover, always sayin’ “Why own a dog when you could own a cat?” I reckon he’d want to see the critters taken care of, especially after he lost his own beloved cat, Koji, a few years back.

Now, ol’ Scott, he was born on July 13, 1983, up in Vancouver, and he made a name for himself in the wrestling world. He started off at a young age, even actin’ in a short film when he was just 13 years old. But he found his real passion in the ring, and boy, did he work his way up. He was known for bein’ a tough feller, wrestlin’ in places like the Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling. His reputation as “Big Cat” came from his big heart, big personality, and big skills in the ring. If you was to ask anyone who knew him, they’d say he was as kind as he was strong. A real lovable guy who knew how to get the crowd riled up!
But wrestling, well, it ain’t always the safest job, and sometimes things go wrong. Now, a lot of folks say Scott took a bad fall, real bad one, during a match. Some folks said he got real pale and woozy right after, but he recovered and kept goin’. There’s always risk in that line of work, but Scott was a trooper, and he pushed through. It’s just awful that it seems to have caught up with him in the end.
One thing’s for sure, though—Scott left a big mark. He was loved by his fans, his fellow wrestlers, and his family. His passing has left a real hole, and the outpourin’ of love and respect for him just shows how much folks cared about him. His family—his parents Lauralyn and Michael, his sister Dana, and the rest of his kin—are feelin’ the loss something fierce. It’s always tough when we lose someone too soon, especially someone as kind-hearted and genuine as Scott was.
Scott was part of the Canadian Apex Wrestling, and after his death, they put out a statement sayin’ how sad they were to lose him. He was a tag team champion there, and they talked about what a good friend he was to everyone. Folks in the wrestling world and beyond have been payin’ their respects, talkin’ about how much he meant to ’em.
Now, I reckon not everybody outside the wrestling world might’ve heard of Scott “Big Cat” Henson, but he had a big impact on the people who knew him, and that’s somethin’ worth rememberin’. He was more than just a wrestler; he was a friend, a brother, and a son. And while we don’t know exactly what took him from us, we do know this—he will be missed by many, and remembered fondly by all who knew him.

So, rest in peace, Big Cat. You may be gone, but you sure ain’t forgotten.
