Alright, let’s talk about boxing, you know, the one where fellas punch each other. We’re gonna figure out who’s beat the most world champions. It ain’t easy, ya know, ’cause there’s been a whole lotta fightin’ over the years.
Now, I heard tell of this fella, Billy Bird, from over in the UK. They say he knocked out a whole heap of people, like 139 fellas! That’s a lot of punchin’, but knockin’ folks out ain’t the same as beatin’ a world champion, see? And then there’s this other guy, Len Wickwar, also from the UK. Fought more times than I had hot dinners, 472 times they say! But again, fightin’ a lot ain’t the same as beatin’ the best.

So, who did beat the most champions? Well, some folks say it’s Muhammad Ali. Yeah, that loud-mouth fella who danced around a lot. They say he beat more Olympic gold medal winners than anyone else when they turned pro. Guys like Floyd Patterson and Joe Frazier, real tough cookies. But Olympic gold ain’t the same as a world championship belt, is it? Though, I reckon beatin’ an Olympic champ is somethin’ special.
Then there’s this magazine, The Ring, they call it. Fancy name, huh? They keep track of all these champions. I saw a list with a fella named Thomas Hearns on it. He won a bunch of belts in different weights, welterweight, light middleweight, even light heavyweight. A real strong fella, I bet. But the list just showed what belts he won, not how many different champions he beat. It’s all so confusin’!
- So, we got Billy Bird with all them knockouts.
- And Len Wickwar with all them fights.
- And Ali beatin’ Olympic fellas.
- And Thomas Hearns with all his belts.
But none of that really tells us who beat the most world champions, does it? It’s like tryin’ to count chickens when they’re runnin’ all over the yard! I also saw some stuff about heavyweight champions and how many fights they won, but that’s just one weight class, and we’re lookin’ at all the champions, right?
Seems like keepin’ track of this stuff is harder than milkin’ a cow with three hands. You gotta look at all the different weight classes, all the different times, all the different organizations that give out belts. It’s a real mess, I tell ya. I reckon it’s probably someone like Ali or maybe one of them older fellas, back when there weren’t so many belts and everyone knew who the real champ was. But pinin’ down a name? That’s tough.
You see, back in the old days, things were simpler. You had one champion, maybe two. Now, it seems like everyone’s got a belt! Makes it hard for an old woman like me to keep track. I remember hearin’ stories about Sugar Ray Robinson, they said he was somethin’ special. Maybe he beat a lot of champions? Or maybe it was one of them fellas from even further back, before my time even. It’s a mystery, I guess. A real head-scratcher.

So, after all this talk, can I tell ya for sure who beat the most world champions? Nope. But I can tell ya it was likely someone real tough, someone who fought the best, and someone who wasn’t afraid to step in the ring with anyone. Maybe that’s all that matters in the end.
