So, I was trying to figure out this whole turnbuckle removal thing in WWE 2K23 the other day. It’s been driving me nuts! I kept messing around with the controls, trying different button combinations, and nothing seemed to work. I felt like I was missing something obvious, you know?
I remembered back in the older games, like 2K17 and 2K18, it was pretty simple. I think it involved using the directional stick and maybe the circle button, or something like that. But for some reason, I just couldn’t get it to work in this one. It got pretty frustrating, to be honest.

- I started experimenting with different wrestlers.
- I even tried playing as Finn Balor with Judgment Day at ringside, since I saw a comment online about them removing turnbuckles.
- I noticed Dom and Rhea were constantly going at it, taking off those turnbuckle pads in the corners. That gave me a bit of hope, but I still couldn’t do it myself manually.
Then, I dug a little deeper and stumbled upon some info about it being tied to a cutscene with The Undertaker. Apparently, his turnbuckle removal is part of a cutscene, not regular gameplay. That made sense, but it didn’t really solve my problem since I wanted to do it with other wrestlers during a normal match.
Finally, I found the answer! Turns out, you can remove the turnbuckle with any wrestler by pressing RT and LB on Xbox, or R2 and L1 on PlayStation. I felt so dumb for not figuring it out sooner! Apparently, the game only shows a prompt for heel characters, which is why I was so confused. I guess it’s one of those things that’s supposed to be a “heel” move.
Anyway, I gave it a shot, and it worked like a charm! It’s kind of like loosening a real turnbuckle – you gotta twist it clockwise. But yeah, once you’ve decided which turnbuckle you want to remove, just head over to the corner, select it, and hit those buttons. Problem solved!
Hope this helps anyone else who was struggling with this. It’s a small thing, but it was really bugging me. Now I can finally get back to enjoying the game!
