Okay, so I’ve been wondering about something lately, and I figured I’d share my little investigation with y’all. It’s about what NFL team folks in Kentucky root for. Now, I’m a Kentucky boy, born and raised, and this has always been a bit of a head-scratcher for me.
Digging into the Question
See, Kentucky doesn’t have its own NFL team. So, naturally, we gotta pick a team from somewhere else. I started by thinking about the teams that are kinda close by. You got the Cincinnati Bengals up north, the Indianapolis Colts to the northwest, and the Tennessee Titans down south. I figured these would be the main contenders.
The Process
First, I started asking around. Talked to my buddies, my family, folks at the local diner – you name it. I wanted to get a feel for what people were actually doing. One of my friends moved to the state recently, and he told me that it is kind of confusing. I also saw a discussion online, and it looked like people were talking about this very question.
I noticed a pattern. Up in the eastern part of the state, closer to Cincinnati, it’s pretty much Bengals territory. Lots of orange and black on game day. I went to Lexington once, most of the people I met were rooting for Bengals. But as you move further south, that starts to fade a bit.
Then there’s Louisville. Now, Louisville’s a bit of a mixed bag. You got some Colts fans there, probably because the Colts have been doing pretty good in recent years. But even in Louisville, you’ll find some Bengals fans holding strong. I once met a group of people from Louisville, some of them were rooting for Colts, some of them were rooting for Bengals.
Going Further
But then I thought, “What about the western and southern parts of the state?” That’s where things get interesting. You start seeing more Tennessee Titans fans. I guess it makes sense, being closer to Nashville and all. I even drove down to the southern border once, and Titans flags were everywhere.
Besides, I also searched online. There is one interesting thing that I found. Dallas Cowboys have nearly 19.7 million followers on social media. I mean, who doesn’t like the Cowboys?
My Conclusion
So, what’s the verdict? Well, it’s complicated. It really depends on where you are in Kentucky.
- Eastern Kentucky: Mostly Bengals.
- Louisville: A mix of Bengals and Colts.
- Western and Southern Kentucky: More Titans.
But honestly, you’ll find fans of all three teams scattered throughout the state. And of course, some folks root for other teams entirely! It’s a beautiful mess, really. Just like a good ol’ Kentucky potluck. You never quite know what you’re gonna get, but it’s always interesting.
