Okay, so the other day I was watching “Creed III” with my buddy, and he goes, “Dude, is this based on a true story?” And I was like, “Hmm, good question!” I mean, we all know the Rocky movies are fiction, but with “Creed,” it feels a bit more…real, you know?
So, I decided to do some digging. It’s kinda my thing. I love getting to the bottom of stuff.

My Little Investigation
First, I jumped on Google. Typed in “is Creed a true story,” obviously. I scrolled through a bunch of articles and forum posts. Lots of people were asking the same question!
What I found, and to make this simple.
- The Rocky movies: Totally fictional, created by Sylvester Stallone. We all know that.
- Apollo Creed: Also fictional, a character inspired by Muhammad Ali, which is awesome, but still, not a real person.
- Adonis Creed: Fictional again, he is the son of Apollo.
So the movies are not a true story.
I gotta say, even though I knew the Rocky movies were fiction, part of me hoped there was some real-life inspiration behind Adonis Creed. It would’ve been cool, right?
But honestly, it doesn’t change how much I enjoy the “Creed” movies. They’re still super inspiring, the boxing scenes are intense, and the story about family and legacy? That stuff hits you right in the feels, true story or not.
