Okay, so I got curious the other day about something kinda morbid, I admit. I was watching a NASCAR race and it got me thinking: how many drivers have actually died during a race? I mean, it’s a dangerous sport, right?
So, I started digging. First, I just did a simple search. I just typed in “how many NASCAR drivers have died during a race”.

The results were a little all over the place at first, but I started to get a clearer picture.
I found out that since NASCAR started, there have been a number of driver deaths, and the number is 29 in total. And, get this, quite a few, actually happened during races, it is 14!
Then I kept going. It seems like the 90s and early 2000s were a particularly rough time. But the good news I found which make me feel relief, is that, there haven’t been any deaths in any of the big NASCAR series, since 2001! So, whatever they’re doing now with safety, it seems to be working. Thank goodness.
