Okay, so the other day, I was trying to figure out how long my nephew’s freshman football game would be. I promised my sister I’d go, but I also had other stuff to do, you know? So, I needed a timeframe.
Started with a Simple Search
First, I jumped online and typed in something like “how long are freshman high school football games?” I figured the internet would have a quick answer. Boy, was I wrong! I found all sorts of stuff about NFL games, college games, even peewee leagues, but nothing specific about freshman games.

Digging a Little Deeper
Then, I tried to get more specific. I added my state to the search, thinking maybe it was different depending on where you live. Still no luck. Lots of general information about high school football, but nothing that really nailed down the freshman game length.
Getting Frustrated
I am starting to feel really bad, I thought maybe I should just text my sister and ask. But I didn’t want to look like I didn’t put in any effort.
Asking Around
I decided to hit up a buddy of mine who has older kids. He’s been through the whole high school sports thing. I texted him, “Hey, how long do freshman football games usually last?”
The Answer!
He texted me back pretty quick: “Usually around 2 hours, maybe a little longer with halftime and stuff.”
- It is 2 hours.
Finally! I had a reasonable estimate. It wasn’t some official rule, but it was good enough for me. I could plan my day around that.

So, I learned that sometimes the internet doesn’t have all the answers, especially for really specific stuff. And sometimes, it’s just easier to ask someone who knows!
