Okay, so I’ve been hitting the gym lately, trying to get in shape for boxing, you know? It’s way tougher than I thought it’d be, but I’m not giving up. I started with some basic stuff, figured I gotta build up my stamina first. So, I’ve been doing these Fartlek runs. Basically, I run, then jog, then sprint, then walk, just mixing it up. It’s killer, but I can feel myself getting a bit better each time.
Adding Intensity

Then I thought, “I need to be explosive in the ring, right?” So I started doing these hard sprints with hardly any rest in between. Man, those are rough. I’m talking, like, full-on sprinting for as long as I can, then just a few seconds to catch my breath, and BAM, I’m off again. Feels like my lungs are on fire, but I guess that’s how you build that explosive power.

On days when I’m feeling totally wrecked, I do some easy biking. It’s still working out, but it’s not as intense, you know? Gives my body a bit of a break while still keeping me active.
Getting Stronger
Now, for the strength part, I’ve been doing a bunch of plyometrics. Jumping, hopping, all that stuff. It’s supposed to help with power, and I think it’s working. I feel like I can move quicker, you know, more agile. Also, I’m doing these circuit drills. It’s like, a bunch of different exercises one after another, with hardly any rest. It’s tiring as hell, but it’s a good way to work on different muscle groups and keep my heart rate up.
Back to Basics
Of course, I’m also doing a lot of bag work. Just hitting the heavy bag, working on my punches, my combinations. I try to focus on my technique, make sure I’m doing it right. And sparring, that’s a whole different beast. It’s tough, you’re getting hit, you’re trying to hit, it’s a real workout. But it’s the best way to get used to the actual fighting, you know?
Sharpening the Technique
And when I’m not doing all that, I’m shadow boxing. Just practicing my moves, my footwork, without a bag or an opponent. It’s all about visualizing the fight, staying sharp. I also do some work with mitts, where my coach holds up these pads and I practice my punches on them. It’s great for accuracy and speed.
Keeping My Core Tight
I know core strength is important, so I’ve been doing way more than just crunches and sit-ups. I try to use the actual movements of boxing to work my core, leaning forward, back, side to side, all that twisting and turning. It’s not just about having a six-pack, it’s about being able to move properly and generate power from your core.

It’s a lot of work, but I’m determined to get better. I know it takes time, but I’m seeing improvements, little by little. Just gotta keep at it, keep pushing myself. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll actually be good at this boxing thing, haha!
