Man, I gotta tell you about this whole NASCAR thing at Iowa Speedway. It’s been a real adventure figuring out when the races are.
First off, I heard some buzz about a race in February at Bowman Gray Stadium, but that’s not even in Iowa. Checked the date, February 2, 2025, so that’s MRN, whatever that means. Must be a different thing altogether.

Then I dug a bit deeper and found out the real deal for Iowa. They talked about a live event from June 14 to 17, 2024. That sounded more like it! So, I marked my calendar for that. Turns out, the main event, the Cup Series race, was set for June 16 at 6 PM CT. They also mentioned the ARCA Menards Series on June 14, which I guess is a Friday thing.
But here’s where it gets interesting. I saw this announcement about the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. It got me thinking, “Are they gonna be in Iowa again next year?” And sure enough, I found another note saying they’d be back in Newton, Iowa, after a debut in 2024. I guess it went pretty well!
The Details Are a Little Fuzzy
- June 14-17, 2024: This is when the action happened this year. I circled these dates but wished I’d known sooner.
- June 16, 2024, 6 PM CT: The big Cup Series race. I guess this was the highlight of the weekend.
- August 2 and 3, 2025: Found this date too. Seems like another event is planned for next year, but it’s in August, not June.
Now, about watching it, they said something about the USA Network and MRN for the qualifying session. The Iowa Speedway is apparently this short track, 0.875 miles. Sounds intense! It is not easy for me to find a place to watch.
There was also some stuff about a virtual race, the Drive To Give 400, for charity. Not my thing, but hey, it’s for a good cause. I even saw some names like the University of Iowa and Dale Earnhardt. This is really famous.
And get this, there was another race I stumbled upon, at the Circuit of the Americas from March 22 to 24. Totally different place, but I guess NASCAR gets around! But I am not interested.
So, that’s my NASCAR at Iowa Speedway story. A bit of a runaround, but I got there in the end. I know now.
Next year, I’ll be ready. And hopefully, they won’t change the dates on me again!
