Alright guys, so the other day I was trying to catch the game, but I couldn’t find the NBA app on my Samsung TV. It was a bit of a head-scratcher, so I dove in to figure it out. Here’s how it all went down:
First Try: The Obvious
I started by grabbing the remote and hitting the Smart Hub button. I figured, “It’s gotta be in the app store, right?” So, I went straight to the apps section, used the search function, and typed in “NBA”. Nothing. Not a single result. That was weird, I thought it would be a simple find.

Digging Deeper: Why Isn’t It There?
Since the easy way didn’t work, I started thinking, “Maybe it’s a regional thing?” Or, “Is my TV too old?” I jumped on my phone and started googling around. Turns out, the NBA app isn’t available on all Samsung TVs, especially older models. It depends on the TV’s operating system and year. I found out that my TV was running on the Orsay OS, an older system. Then, bingo! This was probably the issue!
The Solution: Getting Around the Problem
Knowing the app wasn’t directly compatible, I had to get creative. My first idea was, “I’ll just use a streaming device!”
- I plugged in my Chromecast.
- Then I hopped on my phone and Opened the NBA app.
- Used the cast button to send the game straight to the TV.
And boom! Worked like a charm. The game was on, the picture was great, and I didn’t have to mess with any complicated settings.
Other Options I Considered
I also thought about a few other ways to handle it, just in case the casting didn’t pan out:

- Using a Fire Stick or Roku: These are pretty much the same as the Chromecast – plug them in, download the NBA app on the device, and you’re good to go.
- Connecting a Laptop with HDMI: I could have just hooked up my laptop to the TV with an HDMI cable. It’s a bit more of a hassle, but it definitely works.
- Gaming Console App:PS5 or XBOX console can install NBA app and login to watch.
So, that’s my story. It took a bit of figuring out, but I finally got to watch my game. Moral of the story? Sometimes the simple solution isn’t available, but there’s almost always a workaround. Just gotta poke around a bit! Hope this helps anyone else running into the same issue. Game on!
