Okay, so I wanted to watch the Alabama football game, but I wasn’t sure what channel it was on with my Dish Network subscription. Here’s how I figured it out:
First, I grabbed my trusty Dish remote. You know, the one with like a million buttons? Yeah, that one.

I started by pressing the “Guide” button. I figured that would be the easiest way to see all the channels and what’s playing. It’s a pretty basic function, so that’s where I started.
Then, I used the arrow keys to scroll through the channel listings. I was looking for any channel that might show a college football game – ESPN, ESPN2, SEC Network, you know, the usual suspects. I also checked the local channels, just in case.
I spent a few minutes scanning, going up and down the list. To be honest, it took me a while, because there were so many dang channels! Dish has a ton.
I got a little frustrated, because there was a ton of sports channel.
I realized I was wasting too much time and needed to speed it up.

After that I used up and down keys, and there’s a feature where you can filter by category. I selected “Sports,” hoping that would narrow things down. Clever, right?
Bingo! Found some related Sports programs.
I was still looking through the listings, and Finally found it.
I made a note of the channel number so I wouldn’t forget. Better to save that info for future games.
