Alright, listen up, y’all. You wanna go see that tennis thingy, the U.S. Open, right? And you need a place to crash, ain’t that so? Well, lemme tell ya, it ain’t as hard as findin’ a needle in a haystack, but ya gotta know where to look. This here Billie Jean King place, that’s where they smack them little yellow balls around. It’s in a place called Flushing Meadows, if I remember right.
Now, some folks, they like to stay real close by, in a place called Queens. There’s plenty of hotels there, and some of ’em even got them fancy buses that take ya right to the tennis matches. That’s good if you got a car, or if you just don’t wanna walk too much. My old knees ain’t what they used to be, I tell ya.

But listen, this here New York City, it’s a big ol’ place. And there’s beds all over the place, not just in Queens. You could stay most anywhere, if you don’t mind travelin’ a bit. Those tennis players, them fellas and gals with the strong arms, they stay all over the city. A lot of ’em, they like that Midtown place. Said it’s easy to get to the tennis from there.
I heard tell of a place called The St. Regis, somethin’ like that. Fancy, I bet. Them tennis stars stay there, livin’ the high life. If you wanna see ’em up close, maybe get a picture, you could try stayin’ there too. But I reckon it’ll cost ya a pretty penny. Me? I’d rather save my money for a good plate of food.
- Stayin’ close (Queens): Lots of hotels, some with shuttle buses. Good if you got a car or don’t wanna walk far.
- Stayin’ further out (NYC): More choices, but you’ll need to figure out how to get to the tennis. Might be cheaper, though.
- Stayin’ fancy (Midtown): Where the tennis players stay. Expensive, but you might see a star or two.
Now, about what to wear. I seen all sorts of folks at them tennis games. Some dressed up all fancy, some in shorts and t-shirts. They don’t seem to care much what you wear, so long as you got clothes on, I guess. Me, I’d wear somethin’ comfortable. You’re gonna be sittin’ for a long time, watchin’ them balls go back and forth.
And one more thing, that Labor Day Saturday, that’s when everyone wants to go see the tennis. It’ll be crowded, I tell ya. If you wanna go that day, you better get your tickets and your room early. Otherwise, you might be sleepin’ on a park bench. And let me tell ya, them benches ain’t comfy.
So there ya have it. That’s all I know about findin’ a place to stay for that tennis thing. Just remember, book early, figure out how you’re gonna get there, and wear somethin’ comfortable. And don’t forget to have fun! It ain’t every day you get to see them folks hittin’ balls that fast.

Oh, and one last thing, don’t be forgettin’ to bring some snacks. Them prices at the tennis matches, they’ll skin ya alive! A little sandwich and some fruit in your bag, that’ll save you some money for a nice dinner later. Trust me on this one.
Anyways, I gotta go now. Got a pot roast on the stove that needs tendin’ to. You have a good time at that tennis thing, ya hear?
