This here boxin’, will it make a body strong? You see, my grandson, he’s gotten himself into that, thumpin’ and jumpin’ around. He says it’s good for him, makes him tough. Well, I reckon gettin’ tough is good, but will he be all big and strong like them fellas on the TV?
Will That There Boxin’ Build Muscle?
Well, I went and did some lookin’ on that there internet, and it says yeah, boxin’ can build you some muscle. Not like them bodybuilders, mind you, but good enough. That grandson of mine, he’s a skinny fella. Always has been. But he’s been at it for a while now, this boxin’ thing, and I swear his shoulders are lookin’ a bit wider.

It ain’t just about gettin’ big, though. This boxin’, it’s a whole lot of movin’. Jumpin’ around, throwin’ them punches, it sure does look like a lot of work. That’s good for the heart, I reckon. Keeps a body goin’ strong, not just the muscles, but the ticker too.
It’s Like Hard Work, This Boxin’
They say boxin’ is good for somethin’ they call “cardio”. Sounds fancy, but I think it just means it gets your heart pumpin’ real good. Like when you’re choppin’ wood or chasin’ them chickens around the yard. Gets you all huffy and puffy, but it’s good for you.

Eatin’ Right is Important, Too
Now, you can’t just be thumpin’ and jumpin’ and expect to get all big and strong. You gotta eat, too. And eat right. Lots of good food, like taters and greens and maybe a bit of meat if you got it. That’s what builds strong bodies. And this boxin’, it makes you hungry! So you gotta eat more of that good food to keep up.
That grandson of mine, he used to just pick at his food. Now, he eats like a horse! Says the boxin’ makes him hungry. Well, I reckon that’s a good thing. Gotta fuel them muscles somehow. Eat enough, you know?

Don’t Get Hurt, Though!
One thing they say on that internet is you gotta be careful with this boxin’. You can get hurt if you don’t do it right. Gotta learn the proper way to throw them punches and move around. Don’t want to be pullin’ somethin’ or twistin’ an ankle.
My grandson, he’s got himself a teacher, a “coach” he calls him. That fella seems to know what he’s doin’. He watches my grandson like a hawk, makin’ sure he’s doin’ everything right. That’s important, I reckon. Don’t want no injuries.
Boxin’ is Older Than You Think!
You wouldn’t believe how old this boxin’ thing is. I thought it was somethin’ new, but that internet says it’s been around for a long, long time. Hundreds of years! Longer than I’ve been alive, that’s for sure. It says it is more than 200 years old. Imagine that. Folks been thumpin’ each other for that long. They do love boxin’.
So, Will Boxin’ Build Muscle?
Well, from what I can gather, this boxin’ thing, it ain’t gonna make you the biggest fella in town. But it will make you stronger. It’ll work your muscles, make your heart strong, and keep you movin’. Just gotta eat right and be careful not to get hurt.
My grandson, he’s still a skinny fella, but he’s gettin’ stronger. I can see it in his eyes. He’s got more pep in his step, and he ain’t afraid of a little hard work. So, I reckon this boxin’ thing, it’s alright. It’s doin’ him some good. Boxing will build muscle and is good.
