Okay, so I wanted to figure out the starting lineup for today’s NASCAR race. You know, just for fun, to see who’s starting where and all that. It’s not like I’m a hardcore fan or anything, but sometimes it’s just interesting to check these things out.
First, I tried to find the official NASCAR site. You’d think that would be the best place, right? But man, their website is a bit of a mess. It took me a while to even find the right section for the Cup Series, and then even longer to find anything about the starting lineup. They have all these articles and videos and stuff, but it wasn’t easy to find a simple list of who’s starting where.

So after messing around on the NASCAR site for a bit, I decided to try a different approach. I searched different websites and read some articles. One article mentioned that Joey Logano will start from second-place on Sunday. That’s cool, I guess. Another article talked about Ross Chastain claiming the pole position at Watkins Glen International. I didn’t know what “pole position” meant, so I searched that, too. Turns out it just means he’s starting first. Good for him!
I also learned that there are these things called “qualifying results.” Apparently, they have these qualifying sessions where the drivers race to see who gets the best time, and that determines the starting order. One article mentioned Christopher Bell getting the pole position at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Another talked about Shane Van Gisbergen starting first at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval. So I guess different drivers start first at different races. Makes sense, I suppose.
Here’s what I gathered about qualifying:
- Drivers race to get the best time.
- The fastest driver gets the “pole position” (starts first).
- The order of the other drivers is based on their times.
Anyway, I eventually found a few websites that had the full starting lineup listed. But honestly, it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I mean, it’s just a list of names and car numbers, you’d think it would be readily available on the official NASCAR site.
So yeah, that’s my little adventure in trying to find the NASCAR starting lineup. It wasn’t exactly a thrilling experience, but I did learn a few things along the way. And hey, at least now I know who’s starting where in today’s race. Maybe I’ll even watch a little bit of it, just to see how it all plays out.
