Alright, so you wanna know ’bout them fellas kickin’ the ball in them football games, huh? The most field goals in a game, you say? Well, let me tell ya, it’s quite a thing.
I heard tell of this fella, Rob Bironas, they say he kicked eight—yes, eight!—of them field goals in one game back in 2007. Played for the Titans, he did. They was playin’ against the Texans, and ol’ Rob, he just kept kickin’ that ball through them big ol’ yellow posts. Eight times! Can you believe it? That’s more than I got toes, I reckon.

Now, some other fellas tried their darndest too. Them St. Louis Cardinals, they tried to kick nine field goals way back in 1967. Nine! But they didn’t make ’em all, no sir. In fact, them same Cardinals, they missed six in another game, in 1966 against the Falcons, that’s just terrible. Six misses! Sounds like my husband tryin’ to fix the tractor, more misses than hits, ya know?
- Rob Bironas kicked eight field goals in a game for the Titans against the Texans in 2007. That’s the record, they say.
- The St. Louis Cardinals, they attempted nine field goals in a game against the Steelers back in ’67. Most attempts, but not most makes.
- The Cardinals also hold the record for most missed field goals in a game, six of ’em, against the Falcons in ’66. Bless their hearts.
- The Tennessee Titans, that’s Bironas’ team, they got the record for most team field goals in a game, eight of ’em, same game Bironas set his record.
So, it seems like eight is the magic number, both for a fella and for a whole team. That Bironas fella, he must’ve had a leg like a mule, kickin’ that ball so far and so straight. I tell ya, it ain’t easy. You gotta have some kinda special somethin’ to do that. Like my grandma’s biscuits, they were special, nobody could make em like that.
Now, they got all sorts of numbers and stats for these games, goin’ way back to 1921, even before I was born! They even count how many field goals a fella makes in his whole career. Some fella named Adam Vinatieri, he made a whole bunch, the most ever they say. But we’re talkin’ ’bout one game here, and that Bironas fella, he’s the king of that.
They talk about “preseason games” and “regular season games” and all that, but from what I gather, these records, they’re for the real games, the ones that matter. Not like them practice games my grandson plays before little league even starts up for the summer, what a waste.
So, there ya have it. Eight field goals in a game, that’s the most. Rob Bironas, that’s the fella who did it. Remember that name, ’cause it’s a record that might stand for a long, long time. Unless some young whippersnapper comes along and kicks nine, but I wouldn’t bet on it. Eight’s a whole lotta kickin’, let me tell ya. It’s a powerful lot, kinda like a good cup of coffee in the morning, sets you right.

And don’t forget those poor Cardinals, missin’ all them kicks. It just goes to show ya, even in football, things don’t always go as planned. Just like life I guess. Anyways, eight field goals, that’s the ticket. You won’t forget that now, will ya?
