What’s that big W on them boxing rings, you ask? Well, I seen it on the TV, big as day. It’s for them sponsors, you know. Like when you see them fellas fightin’ in the ring, there’s always writin’ and pictures on the mat and the ropes. That’s sponsors, payin’ money to get their names seen.
You see, boxing is a big deal, lots of folks watch it. So, these companies, they wanna get their name out there. They pay money, and the boxing folks put their names all over the ring. That way, when you’re watchin’ the fight, you’re also seein’ their names. It is a smart way to do things. I have to say. It’s like puttin’ up a big sign, but on the TV!
Now, this “W” you’re talkin’ about, it could be for anythin’. Could be a company that sells, I dunno, watches. Or maybe it’s a new kind of water, like the fancy bottled water. Or maybe it is some kind of website thing that you can use to buy things. Or it’s a “W” for “winner,” you know, ’cause everyone wants to be a winner.

I seen all sorts of sponsors on them boxing matches. Sometimes it’s for beer, sometimes it’s for cars, you never know. One time, I even seen one for them energy drinks. Makes you all jumpy, I reckon. Another time, it was for some clothes. Fancy clothes, not like the ones I wear. One time, I remember it was for a phone, one of them smart phones everyone’s got now. They had their name right there on the mat, big as you please.
So, this sponsorship, it’s a big deal for them boxing folks. They get money, and the companies get their names out there. It’s like a trade, you see. You scratch my back, I scratch yours. That’s what they say, right? And for the fellas doin’ the fightin’, well, they get to fight in a nice ring, and maybe they get some money too. Everyone gets a little somethin’, that’s how it works.
These sponsors, they gotta be careful though. They gotta pick the right fights to put their name on. You don’t want your name on a fight no one’s watchin’, right? That’s like puttin’ up a sign in the middle of nowhere. Nobody’s gonna see it. If you are smart, you will be like them. They know how to play this game.

And sometimes, these sponsors, they give stuff to the fighters too. Like, I seen one time where a car company gave a fighter a brand new car. A fancy one, too, all shiny and new. Imagine that, gettin’ a free car just for fightin’! That’s a pretty good deal, I’d say. Not that I’d want to be in a boxing ring, mind you. Too rough for me. But a free car, that’s somethin’ else.
These fighters, some of them, they get real famous. And then they get lots of sponsors. They put their names on all sorts of things, not just in the boxing ring. You see them on TV sellin’ shoes, or drinks, or clothes. It’s a whole different world, that’s for sure. But it all starts with the boxing, you see. That’s where they get their name, and then they can do all that other stuff. There are so many details about this game. I can not even say it all clear.
So, that “W”, it could be anythin’. But one thing’s for sure, it means money. Money for the boxing folks, and maybe money for the company that put their name there. It’s a big business, this boxing business. Lots of money changin’ hands. You gotta be smart to get in on it, I reckon. And you gotta have a lot of money to play the game.
